Thursday, Torquay, and the TAG are kitting up to execute another drugs warrant on a suspected dealer. There's a possibility that their arrival might be resisted, so the tasers are broken out as a precaution. After creeping up, they bust in without much difficulty and check throughout for occupants, finding someone sitting in the lounge and firmly close-mouthed – primarily because he was attempting to swallow something. Which, one imagines, was why he didn't reach for the toy gun that was beside him. A search reveals a startlingly large stock of methadone, another toy gun and a nasty looking hammer.
Gareth is also in Exmouth. He, and Finn, have been called in to assist with the aftermath of a nasty domestic assault – primarily finding the assailant, who has fled. Initial searches fail to find him, but neither dog nor handler will give up so easily and they potter here, there and everywhere in search of a track. It takes a bit of time, but Finn picks up on a scent so they stop someone who has the same surname, but a different first name. A local officer advises that this is the assailant's nephew; but, tongue tied by family connections, he isn't forthcoming on the whereabouts of his uncle. Rather than wait and see if he will admit knowing where the assailant is, Gareth and Finn head off again to the one spot he hasn't tried yet. It turns out to be the magic location, and Finn finally gets a track, which leads to an industrial sized wheelie bin, with the suspect lurking inside. Good dog!
Tonight, a Road Wars first – welcome to Japan! We're out and about with the newly established Black Panthers Bike Unit, Wakayama's premier Road Crime team. Formed to clamp down on tiresome motorbike gangs on the City's roads, the team is led by Inspector Morita and has all manner of interesting goodies to carry out their job – including paint guns. They can go where cars can't, and it's much harder to get away from them. Their first chase ends up with the bike getting away (for the same reason as bikes get away here – too dangerous to continue), but not the second one. Banzai!
Back in the UK, back with Gareth in the village of Willand, just outside Tiverton. Officers are responding to calls of a youth with a knife, and they soon find a youth who may or may not have a knife – but he certainly has a potty mouth, and that's something that Gareth won't stand for. Local residents are, understandably, highly fed up with this sort of nonsense, and the youth is bundled off to a van, complaining loudly about the handcuffs. They then resume their search for the youth with the knife. The rest of the group of kids are still lurking, and apparently know the law better than Gareth does. They refuse to move away so that Finn can search, but eventually he's able to get started, and discovers, well, not a lot really. They have, however, managed to get the noisy people off the streets, which is a result for the good people of Willand.
Over in Barnstaple, the RCU are on a drugs job. Giles is lurking with intent in one of the STs, while Mark sits in one of the Beemers ready to make the stop, and Taff and Jon occupy the other. Once everyone’s gathered behind the suspect car, the two STs peel off in immaculate style and the car is stopped. The occupants are arrested, and the unit makes a hasty exit before they're joined by the entire population of the local estate. One of the occupants has hidden some drugs in what Mark diplomatically describes as an 'orifice'. She's the only one with illicit stuff, but the driver has no insurance, so he's done for that.
We rejoin Gareth and Finn, now in Newton Abbott, coming in to assist local officers who have arrested someone for drink drive – and found a large, rather peeved rottweiler in the arrestee’s vehicle standing over a pair of air rifles. Needless to say, they're far too chicken to reach in for the guns themselves! Rather than start fighting the dog with a grasper, Gareth starts off with some treats, but the dog is obviously scared of him and teeth are bared so he has to go get the grasper. In the interim, however, the dog has had second thoughts about the bloke with the tasty stuff, and Gareth is able to control him without lassos and poles and whatnot. As it's not hot, and the car has been well ventilated, they decide to leave the dog where it is – but Gareth is making it very clear that they're not to call him back, or he'll chew their arms off.
