What was your call sign on Road Wars?

TV33

What’s your nickname?

Delboy

Why did you become a police officer?

I have always ridden motorcycles and a dream since childhood was to ride a policebike. First thing was, I had to join the Police (D'oh!) then join the 'Traffic dept', then manage to pass an advanced motorcycle course...managed it all and never looked back!

What’s your favourite part of the job?

Putting nasty people away.

What was your favourite Road Wars moment that you were in?

I think the part where Pat and I were looking for a burglar who was still on the premises, I managed to get into the house where as Pat's 'athletic' frame prevented him from doing so, I eventually found him (the burglar, not Pat) hiding in a coal shed and on walking back to the car he said, "I'm playing 'hide and seek' with my mates, I done nothing wrong!" I replied with "well, you've won this game, they'll never find you where you're going"

What was your favourite Road Wars moment of another officer’s?

I think the frustration shown by Pat after a pursuit on the A4 in Langley whereby he had a 'head-to-head' with another vehicle and his clutch went....I think the frustration was shared by all.....personally, I would have kicked the car harder, in places where it hurt, and with more venom......I said that last bit out loud didn't I?

What was it like being followed by a camera crew?

You got used to it, they were very professional, they stood so far back you forgot they were there after a while!

If you weren’t a police officer, what do you think you would be doing?

Probably still working at British Airways and probably still snoring.

Which of the cars did you like driving the best? (thinking Omegas vs. Vectras etc!)

The 2.8 Vectra is my preferred mode of transport. It's more responsive, and a car that takes quite a hammering.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself that not many people know (that’s printable!!)

Me? Interesting??!! Hmmmm, let me think...I went to No10 to receive a bravery award from Mr Blair........(that bit was boring but the p*ss up in the evening with the cast of 'The Bill' was wicked!)

And - a few bonus questions to celebrate the site's first anniversary...

How did you actually get involved in Road Wars? Is it something you are told will happen when you join the Proactive Unit or do you get a choice?

The production crew were already filming when I first joined so I was kind of thrown into the deep end, I thought it was the norm to be honest and as I was the new boy (note the term 'NEWBOY’!!) I just got on with it! Of course you're not obliged to be filmed and Rawcut had no issues if that was the case.

How often do you get asked for an autograph and do people still recognise you from Road Wars?

I get recognised daily especially as I patrol the Slough area from Taplow, it’s usually when I grab some food that I’ll get the ‘You're from Road Wars!” I’ve been asked to sign a few autographs which is very strange but the strangest I ever had was from the young lady that asked me for my autograph after I had stopped her for speeding………I let her know she already had it on the ticket!

If you want to come back into the Proactive Unit after your tenure has finished, how long do you have to wait before you are eligible to get back on the unit?

12 months must pass then you're eligible to re-apply through the normal process. A few vacancies have come up and I did consider a return but to be honest I have some good memories of my times on Road Wars and I think I’ll leave it like it is.

OK, daft questions ahead now: If you could be any super hero from a comic, who would you be and why?

Errrm………Captain Chaos ‘HIM’ he has the same I.Q as me!

If someone were to make a film about your life, what would it be called and who would you want playing you?

'It’s that bloke from Road Wars’ - Starring Jim Carrey.

If you could have any pet at all (alive or extinct) what would you have and why?

A Tyrannosaurus Rex………How COOL would that be?!!

Marmite – Love it or Hate it?

Bleuurgh!

Digestives or Hobnobs?

HOBNOBS!!

And finally....What's been the best thing about having been on Road Wars?

Getting the opportunity to show the public that we are out there getting the bad guys, we dislike criminals more than most and it’s pleasing that Road Wars gave the public a brief glimpse into what we deal with day in/day out…
