What is your callsign on Road Wars?

Tango Victor 31

What is your nickname?

I don't really have any nicknames, most people call me Si or Hillsy, that's about as inventive as it gets!

Why did you become a police officer?

My dad was in the job for nearly thirty years, it really was all I knew as I grew up.  I was always amazed by his stories and with him being a traffic officer too I think it whetted my appetite to try it for myself.

What is your favourite part of the job?

I thoroughly enjoy doing targeted patrols for drug dealers. Operation Falcon was a huge success and we took our fair share of dealers off the streets.  There is no better feeling than when you stop a car for no other reason that you don't like the look of it and after some careful questioning and probing you walk away with a large amount of Class A drugs and some cheeser in cuffs!!

What was your favourite Road Wars moment that you were in?

Probably just for the adrenalin rush it has to be when Chris and I picked up a stolen car in Slough.  The thief went onto the M4 Motorway and then tried to handbrake turn and go the other way.  It was one of those moments where I thought "Now he gets rammed!" It worked because even though he turned back and went the correct way down the carriageway he was nabbed shortly afterwards, mind you our car was a bit sick!

What was your favourite Road Wars moment of another officers?

There are so many to choose from, Charlie and Ruffy make a great partnership and came up with some hilarious stuff, however for sheer class and entertainment it has to be Chris Piggott nicking a car thief after a lengthy pursuit, it went something like "Get out of the *beep* car your *beep* nicked you *beeping beep beep beep beep* get on the *beeping* floor you druggy scum!!" Hilarious and I understand caused the editors many headaches.

What was it like being followed by a camera crew?

We have two camera guys who work with us, and both of them are great.  They are both experienced enough to know when to back off and when to get stuck right in.  I would like to think they are both good friends now and without a doubt they are an extra pair of eyes in the car.  It never ceases to amaze me how many tubes walk up to the camera and shout "Stop filming me!!" and then prance around in front of the camera in their full CHAV uniform.

If you weren't a police officer what do you think you would be doing?

I guess its more what would I like to do, this job is everything to me, the only thing that would top it for me would be playing in goal for the Mighty Watford FC, (although Mr Boothroyd may say I'm a little short, and perhaps a little short in goalkeeping talent too).  Failing that I have always fancied Customs and Excise, on the drug trafficking side of things.

Which of the cars did you like driving best?

I have driven a few different cars from the old Astras and Omegas to the new Omegas and new Vectras.  I quite like 31 as a car, its quick enough for most things, handles well and is comfortable for 12 hours a day.  The new Vectras are diesel and well...my gran overtook one the other day, I wouldn't mind but her Zimmer frame hasn't even got wheels!!

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself that not many people know?

This is a tough one, does having double jointed thumbs count???
